FAQ’s

How does your pricing work?
I offer a wide variety of services in an a la carte format since requirements change from property to property. First you choose the number of images you would like taken then add other services as you desire. The most common order is a combination of a package of still images and a virtual tour. Agents using YouTube as part of their marketing strategy can add a YouTube video, if the home has a dramatic exterior you can add a twilight shot.

When and how will I get my photos?
In most cases I deliver the final images within 24 hours after the shoot. Once the images are processed and the Virtual Tour has been created you will receive an email with a link to download the images. For jobs without a Virtual Tour web sized images, suitable for posting to MLS will be sent to you via email. Additional images sizes, i.e. high-resolution print quality, will be posted to DropBox for downloading. Optionally, you can request the images on a CD which I will provide at no additional cost.

What should my client do to prepare their home for a photo shoot?
Visit this page on my web site - Home Preparation Guidelines At the bottom of the page you’ll find a link you can use to download a PDF checklist that you can give to your client. Following these guidelines is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED as it will shorten the amount of time it takes for the shoot and the images will look much better.

Do I need to be at the shoot?
No, but I strongly recommend you be there at the start to provide access and get a good look at the state of the home to be sure it is ready to be photographed. De-cluttering the home is primarily the responsibility of the owner but frequently you will want to see for yourself how things look and make any changes prior to the start of shooting.

What if I need to re-schedule or cancel a shoot?

What about bad weather?
This one is up to you. If it’s actively raining or snowing we can stick with the original schedule and shoot the interiors, then come back on a nicer day and finish up wit the exterior shots. Cloudy days can be great for shooting some interiors since the clouds act as a big diffuser softening the light and reducing harsh shadows caused by bright sunlight. However, if the home has that $1M view of the 18th hole you may want to wait for a better day.

What’s your geographic territory? Will you travel? Is there a fee?
I am available to travel anywhere in Utah or for that matter anywhere in the world. I am based in Park City. I do not charge a travel fee for a shoot at any location within 30 minutes of Park City. A modest fee may apply for locations beyond that distance to help defray the cost of gas and the time spent driving to and from the shoot location.

What types of things do you do in post processing/editing the images?
Each image is processed to ensure that the composition is optimal, exposure is balanced, color is accurate, verticals are vertical, and any lens distortion is corrected. Minor objects that are not permanent may be removed if they distract from the image.

What are your payment terms?
Payment should be made on-site at the shoot via cash or check. I have intentionally avoided accepting credit cards due to the fees associated with these services. All fees must be paid in full prior to delivery of the images or other services, i.e. a Virtual Tour.

What are your licensing terms? Who owns the images?
My fees reflect the limited use of the images by the listing Real Estate Agent or in some cases the homeowner - whoever is paying for them. Basically during the period of time you have an active listing you can use the images however you want to promote and advertise the property. This includes posting on MLS, Realtor.com or other web sites, ad placements in on-line and print media, post cards, flyers, brochures, banners, billboards, etc. Once the home sells or if you lose the listing all rights to the use of the images expires. In all cases I retain full ownership of the images.

You are not allowed to give the images to any third party, i.e. a contractor, architect, designer, or the homeowner.

All of these details are spelled out in my “Terms and Conditions” which are included in every invoice. I will gladly provide you a copy - just call or send me an email.
